Writing

No Nonsense Grammar very much reflects the twenty-first century approach to the teaching of grammar. It is closely focused on the requirements of the National Curriculum and rooted in classroom practice. It combines the need to assess pupils’ learning of grammar and to monitor their progress with a host of practical activities, which give learners an opportunity to play with and explore language actively.

In order to give children the freedom to write creatively, we have structured our writing expectations into the following areas:
Initiate - Demonstrate current  knowledge before taking action
Imitate - Learn a text and language within
Innovate - Adapt the text with own ideas (Imagination Firelighters) 
Invent - Create own text using language and skills learned
